Dancing Football

Football is the most popular sport in this world and also in Indonesia. Many people called football is ‘people’s sport’. From children, teenagers, girls, boys up to older people love this sport. They have many and of course different reasons why they really crazy with this game. I think the mass hysteria in screaming when the players made goals are one of the reason why the game is so fantastic. Screaming, laughing and celebrating the goals with the songs and dancing together is amazing to do.

Even in the Indonesian Independence day –August, 17–football is the most sport that always held from kampong to kampong. Of course, it is not formal competition like Liga Indonesia. It is held only for the sake of making the Indonesian Independence day merry. Sometimes the football kampong’s competition set in double 45 minutes as usual, but with many combination. Such as, done in my kampong, Kalibutuh, Surabaya. The game set in double 45 minutes with several dancing intermezzo. The music is not only dangdut, but also keroncong, jazz, javanese traditional with gamelan music, reggae and seriosa. When the game comittee set any music, all players should dance properly. They must dance dangdut and even sing the songs. When the comittee turn on seriosa, keroncong, reggae, jazz and even the javanese music, the must dance properly, as ‘the theme song’.

You can imagine how funny it is! The winner of the game is not only decided how many goals the have but also how they can entertain the spectators! Well, instead of making many goals the players dance as if they show at the stage! It is really interesting and entertaining. Many people enjoy the dancing football. As far as I know, no riots or fighting came up along the game. So, I think it can be a model for overcoming the fighting between supporters of the football. Playing a music and let’s them dance for a while………….and let us see……dancing football will entertaining and ‘taming’ the angry supporters. Let us try. Dancing football? why not?
